WHAT ARE YOU UP TO NOW?

I joined the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) as Environmental Risk Assessment Officer. In this role, I conduct technical assessments and support research projects that fall under the CNSC's mandate to protect the environment and the health and safety of persons.

POST-INTERNSHIP HIGHLIGHTS

HIGHLIGHT FROM THE INTERNSHIP

My highlight was the launch of the Senators For Climate Solutions! I was able to support the group by researching various climate-related topics, writing briefing notes, creating social media posts, designing flyers, and much more. As part of this effort, I also attended COP26 virtually which was a fantastic experience.

HOW DID THE INTERNSHIP HELP YOU GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

The internship provided me with a unique insight into environmental policy and how evidence-based decisions are made in the Senate and beyond. I still follow discussions in the committees that are relevant to my current field. In addition, through my involvement in the Senators For Climate Solutions, I gained broad and comprehensive knowledge of current developments in climate change science, which helps me conduct technical assessments in my new role as Environmental Risk Assessment Officer. Moreover, all the knowledge and skills I have learned in the GreenPAC-organized workshops on parliamentary processes, Indigenous science and knowledge, and active listening will be useful for all future endeavours.
